The strength of the STMA Girls Lacrosse program is 100% dependent upon parent involvement. STMAYLA is calling for volunteers to:
No lacrosse experience is necessary for any of these roles. As is the case for most non-profit community organizations, if volunteers cannot fulfill these three fundamental roles then the girls lacrosse program will be on hold as the program cannot run itself.
If you would like to volunteer or are interested in more information about girls lacrosse, please contact the board at volunteer-director@stmalax.com.

Greetings STMA Lacrosse Families,
I hope this finds you and your family happy, healthy, and looking forward to the end of distance learning!
First off, I want to extend the gratitude of the STMA Lacrosse Association to all of you for your patience as we work toward clarity and a solution to youth sports for this summer. Our priorities all along have been to balance playing opportunities for your players and providing some degree of certainty for you to plan out your summer. That said, here is a brief summary of where we stand for this summer.
In late April, STMAYLA registered all youth teams with the league run by Youth Lacrosse of Minnesota (YLM). Previous announcements from YLM was to expect playing to begin on 1 Jun. As a board, we made the decision to cancel our season if this start date was moved to a later date. We were notified this week that this start date is delayed to 1 Jul, with a final decision to be made by the league on 15 Jun. Therefore, the board voted on 19 May to cancel the season and move forward with planning a summer community program.
Summer programming – With the season cancelled, the association will now shift our focus to working to provide playing opportunities to our lacrosse players at no cost (practices/clinics/etc). We have no details at this time, but you can expect that planning will be in accordance with current MN Department of Education guidance on summer programming. This situation is not only a first for the lacrosse association, but also for the STMA community. Field and coach availability will be the main driving factors for what form our summer programming takes shape, and there is no guarantee that it will.
Fall lacrosse – STMA will continue planning to participate in the Fall 2020 lacrosse league run by the Great Northern Lacrosse League (GNLL) as we have done for many years. Expect practice to begin the last week of August or the first week of April. Games will run through the end of October.
Again, thank you all for your patience during this time. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly if you have any questions or concerns.
As always, we are looking for parents to coach or to serve as board members. If you have any interest in either, please reach out.
Best regards,
Peter Schnobrich
