WELCOME

A message from the Association: THANK YOU to all our sponsors and volunteers

On behalf of the Saint Michael – Albertville (STMA) Youth Lacrosse Association, we would like to thank our generous sponsors who contributed their support which enabled our association’s ability to host the Champions of Summer Lacrosse Tournament. Without their contribution, this year’s tournament wouldn’t have been the huge success that it was.

With the money raised during the tournament, we will be able to continue to offer one of the fastest growing sports to the youth within our community. Funds will be used for a variety of efforts, including development opportunities to help our players hone in on their skills. Earlier this year, we were able to use funds from the prior year’s tournament to invest in new goalie equipment, new nets and marketing efforts that will help the association grow and expand.

In addition to our sponsors, this tournament would not have been possible without the passion, dedication, time and effort from our Tournament Planning Committee and the volunteers who went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly – ensuring that our teams and visitors had a safe and fun experience.

On behalf of all players, parents, tournament committee and board members, thank you again for your kind and generous support!

Sincerely,

The STMA Youth Lacrosse Association

BOYS AGE SEGMENTATION and ELIGIBILITY

Boys STMA Lacrosse Association participants,

We wanted to take a moment and let you know of some recent changes that both US Lacrosse and GNLL have made as it relates to Boys Age Segmentation and Eligibility starting this September 2016.

Key Takeaways:

  1. Move to 12-month segmentations for leagues. (e.g. U7, U8, U9, U10)
    1. http://www.uslacrosse.org/participants/players/player-segmentation.aspx
    2. http://www.uslacrosse.org/multimedia-center/press-releases-news/postid/1147/us-lacrosse-adopts-new-player-segmentation-policy.aspx
  2. New Year will start September 1, 2016 for the age segmentation rules.
    1. The playing season was firmly defined as September 1 through August 31 of each year to help ensure consistency.
  3. If two age groups are combined, the even year age should be the maximum age for the paired segment. (e.g. 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U).
  4. Age to precede the “U” when naming divisions (e.g. 8U, 9U, 10U)
  5. USL(US LACROSSE) made these changes for three reasons:
    1.  Player safety
    2.  Competitive fairness
    3.  Consistent experience for participants
  6. STMA Lacrosse Association will adapt to these new age segmentations as early as the FALL 2016 season to keep in line with GNLL following the same age segmentations.

We ask that you read through the supporting documentation below for more thorough and detailed information.  Please reference the websites listed under number 1 of this announcement for more information about the age segmentation and eligibility changes from USL.  We encourage you to reach out to us should you have any questions or concerns, this is new for us too, so we may not have the answers, but we will do our best to find the answers.
